Covenant vessels like the Ardent Prayer are a prelude to the devastation the full fleet can visit upon a planet.[2]

The Ardent Prayer was a Covenant Ceudar-pattern heavy corvette attached to the Fleet of Valiant Prudence. Its Shipmaster was Ardo 'Moretumee.[3] The vessel took part in the initial stages of the Covenant's invasion of the planet Reach in summer 2552.[2][4]

Operational History[edit]

A cutaway view of Ardent Prayer.

The Ardent Prayer was launched from its shipyard during the Twentieth Age of Discovery (circa 2070), having being designed and by the Forgemasters of Tanus and the Gorgon Assembly Vault under the watchful eyes of Master Shipwright Ckmu 'Raboree and Apprentice Hiveseeker Tek'ch. It was assigned as an exploration vessel, traveling to distant stars and charting dangerous slipspace routes, and fought hostile civilizations that would not accept the Covenant's religion. Unfortunately, the Ardent Prayer would gain no battle honors for its service and its duties were considered beneath the notice of true warriors. As a result, it was rarely mentioned in High Charity's records.[1]

During Operation: UPPER CUT on August 14, 2552, Ardent Prayer was boarded by SPARTAN-B312, Jorge-052, and several UNSC Army FSS-1000 Sabre pilots in an effort to plant a Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine on board, which would be used to destroy a nearby Sh'wada-pattern supercarrier, Long Night of Solace - the fleet's flagship. During the mission, the ship was engaged by the UNSC Paris-class heavy frigate Savannah. Savannah jammed Ardent Prayer's communications, while the Sabres damaged the corvette's engines and destroyed its Seraph escort so its crew could not call for help.[4]

Ardent Prayer destroyed Savannah, but not before a boarding party had landed on the corvette. The UNSC team eliminated the bridge crew, including its Shipmaster, Ardo 'Moretumee, and set the ship on a refueling track with Long Night of Solace. The operation succeeded, and Ardent Prayer, along with the supercarrier, was destroyed by the rigged slipspace drive.[3][4]
