The Rig is a Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer map set on a mobile mining platform on the colony of Meridian.[2] The remix of this map is Molten.[3]
Gameplay
Codenamed 'Towers'[4] during development, The Rig is an asymmetrical map set on a Liang-Dortmund mining rig. It is a vertically-focused map, with many nooks and crannies that players can exploit with their spartan abilites in order to ambush opponents or find efficient routes around the platform-heavy playing area. The focal power weapons are the Tufasumo-pattern plasma caster and Sniper Rifle. A Scattershot and active camouflage also spawn on the map.
Trivia
- An easter egg can be activated on this map which shows a sand monster devouring a mining platform in the distance. This is possibly a reference to the film Dune. To trigger the easter egg, the protruding platform in the center pit of the map must be broken (such as by a ground pound). This will raise two explosive cores from their cowlings on the perimeter of the map. Destroy both of these cores and watch the mining platform by the sunset.
