Description
This template is used to insert an infobox for use on articles about both individual spacecraft and spacecraft classes. The template is modular, and can be divided into three basic sections;
- The universal template parameters - things that can be used on both individual ships and ship class articles
- The individual ship career characteristics
- The ship class characteristics
Usage
Syntax
To insert this template onto a page, place the following wikitext onto the article.
{{Infobox/Ships}}
Parameters
The following parameters are used on this template.
{{Infobox/Ships |name = <!--The name of the ship--> |image = <!--The image for the box - should be capped at 300px for most cases--> |caption = |modules = <!--/Individual or /Class sub-modules should be placed here--> |hide-characteristics=<!--leave blank unless you want to hide the characteristics section header--> |nocollapse = <!--leave blank unless you want to disable the show/hide functionality--> |type = |length = |width = |height = |mass = |power = |maneuver drive = |slipspace drive = |crew = <!--Describes crew counts only--> |complement = |troops = <!--Describes on-boarded Marine, Army etc ground troop forces--> |hull = <!--Describes hull plate material--> |shielding = <!--Describes shielding--> |sensors = <!--Describes sensors and whatnot--> |ew = <!--Describes electronic warfare capabilities--> |armaments = <!--Describes weapons etc--> |aircraft = <!--Describes embarked aircraft and dropships--> |air facilities = <!--Describes hangars and whatnot--> }}
Individual ship parameters
When writing an article about a single spacecraft, the following code can be inserted between the |caption=
and |class=
parameters. This set of parameters can be used multiple times, should the ship have changed hands throughout its service lifetime.
{{Infobox/Ships/Individual |country = <!--The empire, state or nation this vessel is within service of, not the military (unless no appreciable distinction exists)--> |country flag = <!--For use with [[Template:Icon]]--> |name = <!--The ship's name, sans any prefixes--> |class = <!--The ship's class--> |namesake = <!--The ship's namesake, if any--> |identification = <!--The ship's hull code--> |operator = <!--The armed forces/branch that uses this ship--> |manufacturer = |architect = |laid down = |launched = |commissioned = |decommissioned = |fate = <!--The ultimate fate of the ship, if it is no longer in present service--> |status = <!--The current status of the ship if it is still active, and one is known--> |captains = |ai = |motto = |badge = }}
Ship class parameters
When writing an article about a class of spacecraft, use the following code inserted between the |caption=
and |class=
parameters.
{{Infobox/Ships/Class |hide-class = |class identification = <!--The hull code of the class--> |class operator = <!--The navy/navies who use this ship class--> |class manufacturer = <!--Who makes the ship class--> |class architect = <!--The naval architect(s) for the class--> |class built = <!--How many ships of this class were constructed--> |class in service = <!--The years/ages in which ships of this class were in service--> }}
