- This article refers to the UNSC Navy rank of Captain. For the UNSC Marine Corps rank, see Captain (Marine Corps).
Captain[1] is a commissioned officer rank of the UNSC Navy, equal with the rank of Colonel in the UNSC Marine Corps.
Captains typically command a single ship, but may also command a battlegroup or a small fleet if they are the most senior officer present.
Captains are sometimes referred to informally as "Skipper"[2]
Relation to Marine Corps Captain
The Marine Corps rank of Captain is ranked three pay grades lower than a Navy Captain, and has no special command authority with respect to a ship.
