Photoreactive panels are a form of active camouflage developed by the United Nations Space Command.[1] The outer layer of the Semi-Powered Infiltration armor is coated with photoreactive panels to hide the wearer from sight. While not as sophisticated as the stealth shrouds used by the Covenant, the technology advanced during the Human-Covenant War, with the newer SPI generation being fitted with more efficient photoreactive panels in 2551.[2]
UNSC prowlers are also equipped with a form of photoreactive paneling, integrated to the stealth ablative coating and enabled by texture buffers.[3][4]
By 2558, some of the photoreactive plating technology on the SPI armor has seen limited but successful use in several special operations ODST units.[5]
