Ancient Machine is the ninth track in Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, Volume 1.
It has some percussion as well as vocals as the lead. It is mostly electronic, however, which helps add an eerie atmosphere. The name "Ancient Machine" is thought to refer to different Forerunner constructs.
The piece was reorchestrated into Builder's Legacy in the Halo 2: Anniversary Original Soundtrack.
Appearances
The soundtrack can be heard:
- In the level Outskirts, when John-117 heads down the dark hallway in the hotel, and during the short skirmish soon after.
- In the level The Arbiter, when Thel 'Vadamee clears the hangar in the Threshold gas mine.
- In the level Quarantine Zone, during the ending cutscene, when Avery Johnson realizes his Marines are not responding, and again at the end when Tartarus sends Thel 'Vadamee into the bottom of the Library.
