- "Our fighters are mopping up the last of their recon picket now, nothing serious. But I've isolated approach signatures from multiple CCS-class battle groups, make it three capital ships per group. And in about 90 seconds they'll be all over us."
- — Cortana[1]
Capital ships are a classification of spacecraft. The definition of a capital ship depends on the individual faction and the ship class. As an example: the large and heavily armed Phoenix-class is considered a support vessel in the UNSC,[note 1] while the Marathon-class heavy cruiser, which is nearly half its size, is considered a capital ship.[2]
Types
Covenant
- Cruiser[3]
Human
- Main article: UNSC starship
Ensigns typically did not pilot UNSC capital ships.[10]
Prehistoric human
Notes
- ^ While Halo: Shadow of Intent refers to the CRS-class light cruiser Spear of Light as a capital ship, it had been heavily modified by San'Shyuum Prelates to be more effective than other examples of its class, and may have been an anomaly.
