McKenzie was a UNSC Marine. He served aboard the UNSC UNSC In Amber Clad during the Battle of Earth and the Battle of Installation 05.

McKenzie was present when the UNSC In Amber Clad took part in the Battle of the Quarantine Zone. He accompanied with Corporal Perez, Sergeant Major Johnson, and Commander Miranda Keyes to the Library to retrieve the Activation Index. After securing the Library facility, Johnson left Perez and McKenzie to guard the exit while he escorted Keyes to retrieve the Index, however both Marines were then killed by a swarm of Flood Infection forms.[1]
