Biography
Mission to Soell
- Main article: Skirmish on Mona Lisa
She accompanied Sergeant Zhao Heng Lopez, Corpsman Ngoc Benti, and others on a classified mission to the location of Installation 04's debris field. During the mission, she would occasionally conduct reconnaissance missions with a Pelican. After three days of sifting through the field, the Red Horse's AI, Rebecca, picked up a signal coming from an escape pod of unknown origin. When the Red Horse picked up the escape pod, Technical Officer Raj Singh enlisted the aid of Burgundy and Clarence to help open it. As they opened the pod, an unidentified man surrounded by blood immediately sprung out. Burgundy, disgusted, ran off into the ship.[2]
The origin of the mysterious escape pod was soon revealed to be a prison ship known as the Mona Lisa, drifting in Halo's debris field. As Lopez lead a squad of Marines to investigate the ship, Burgundy was assigned to pilot the Marines' Pelican to transport them to the Mona Lisa.[3] As the other Marines proceeded deeper into the ship, Lopez ordered Marines Cranker, Maller, Simmons, and Sydney to stay with the Pelican with Burgundy locked up inside the dropship.[4] Shortly later, the Flood launched a fierce attack against the Marines outside of the Pelican. Burgundy examined the firefight with the limited view of the visual sensors of the Pelican, failing to see the attackers, nor her protection detail's death and subsequent infection.[5]
Death
Less than an hour later, Burgundy's Pelican was approached by two dimly lit figures she recognized as Cranker and Maller. Unaware of the infection and assuming they had been merely injured, Burgundy lowered the Pelican's rear ramp, only to be attacked by the two Flood forms. Learning the truth too late, she opened fire with her sidearm, but failed to ward off the attackers.[6] The Flood forms incapacitated Burgundy and proceeded to harshly carry her to the Mona Lisa's engine room in order to be absorbed into the proto-Gravemind they were building.[7]
Later, Benti, Clarence, "Henry", and Rimmer saw an incessantly screaming Burgundy being dragged and enveloped into the proto-Gravemind.[7] In order to end her suffering and prevent the Flood from absorbing her knowledge and using it to escape, Benti tossed two primed fragmentation grenades at the mass and destroyed the Flood growth, the engines and Burgundy.[8]
