Zanzibar Island is an island on Earth located off the northeast coast of Tanzania, Africa.[1]
Background
The island is located off the coast of Africa about 175 km south of New Mombasa, which was the Covenant's main incursion point in their initial attack on Earth in 2552.
As part of the East African Protectorate's attempts at re-nationalization in the late 25th century, Wind Power Station 7 was constructed at the Zanzibar coast next to an ancient fortress. However, the effort was not particularly successful and as a result, the station was later decommissioned. Notably, like many abandoned industrial sites, the station was used as a Spartan training site.[2] Following the Human-Covenant War and the destruction of the Mombasa Tether, the construction of a new space elevator was initiated on the Indian Ocean just off the coast of Zanzibar Island.[3]
