Naxan 'Mdama is a Sangheili male living in the state of Mdama on Sanghelios during the post-Human-Covenant War era.[1] He was the grandbrother of Raia 'Mdama.[2]

Biography

Naxan had previously served in the Covenant military. Like many Sangheili, he was disdainful of the Kig-Yar, believing things would turn for the worst if they were given better ships and weapons. Naxan was also a staunch Sangheili traditionalist, believing that a Sangheili warrior who was wounded should not seek out medical help.[3]

During the Human-Covenant War he helped Raia 'Mdama, his grand-niece, maintain the Bekan keep. He taught the children at the keep basic combat skills and the art of swordsmanship. He taught female children as well as males, something elder Jul 'Mdama felt was important in order to ensure that the keep could be well-defended in case of an emergency. Naxan was a very strict mentor, rapping his pupils, like young Gmal, on the head with a stick if they made a mistake. He was disdainful of Arbiter Thel 'Vadam, telling Jul to give the Arbiter a warning to watch his back when he went to Kaidon Levu 'Mdama's keep.[4]

When the Servants of the Abiding Truth began an insurrection against the Arbiter's followers, Jul had been missing for some weeks, and Raia decided to accompany Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam to the attack on Vadam keep to find him. Naxan insisted that it was his duty to confront 'Telcam if he had killed Jul, but Raia insisted that he remain at Bekan keep.[5] Following the retreat of the Servants and the death of Raia, Naxan became the elder of Bekan keep.[6]
