The Type-58 Directed Energy Support Weapon (T-58 DESW),[1] simply known as the plasma cannon, was in service with both the Swords of Sanghelios and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant during the Blooding Years. In addition to being used as a stationary and portable turret it was also used as secondary weapons for the Type-57 Phantom and Type-58 Wraith.[2]
Overview
The Type-58 DESW exchanges San'Shyuum refinement and grace seen in earlier models for Sangheili simplicity and ease of manufacture. Temperamental and heavy, the desperate need for these heavy weapons by the warring factions outweighs any concerns about their quality.[1]
