The heavy destroyer is a warship classification in the UNSC Navy.

Overview

Active in the late 2490's, the UNSC Gorgon was the first heavy destroyer to be equipped with a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, a weapon system that would later become the standard armament of most UNSC naval ships. The Gorgon was commanded by then-Captain Preston Cole. It was used to engage the insurrectionist vessel Bellicose on three occasions.[1] The warship was capable of firing only three MAC rounds before needing to resort to other armaments.[2]
