Mayhem, formerly known as Quester of Glory,[4] was an SDV-class heavy corvette[1] in service with the Swords of Sanghelios.
History
Human-Covenant War
Originally known as the Quester of Glory during its time with the Covenant, this ship has been in many battles with the "scars" still evident upon the hull. Sometime after the Great Schism the ship fell under the possession of the Swords of Sanghelios.[4]
Operation: FAR STORM
In 2555, a countdown to the activation of the Halo Array was discovered on Installation 07. The Office of Naval Intelligence made the decision to send a join UNSC-Swords of Sanghelios task force to Installation 00 to prevent the activation. N'tho 'Sraom was ordered by the Arbiter Thel 'Vadam to meet Usze 'Taham and the Huragok Drifts Randomly and take Mayhem to Earth so the Huragok could repair the portal generator for passage to the Ark.[5]
When the portal was reactivated, a Forerunner Retriever Sentinel immediately emerged but it was soon destroyed by UNSC Endeavor.[6] A meeting was then held on Mayhem upon N'tho's request, to discuss the next course of action. While N'tho suggested entering the portal immediately, Captain Annabelle Richards insisted they wait for consent by her superiors.[7] Not wanting to waste any time, N'tho ordered his crew to fly Mayhem into the portal but before they could enter, another Retriever appeared. Mayhem quickly took care of the sentinel and then entered the portal.[8]
Due to the increased power input of the Ark's portal generators, Mayhem reached the Ark in a matter of hours. Upon exiting slipspace, Mayhem was engaged by multiple armed Retrievers. The vessel was soon overwhelmed by the Retrievers, with two of the sentinels joining to form a larger, more powerful version. With no other option, N'tho ordered his crew to ram the construct and divert all remaining shields to the front of the ship. The sentinel was destroyed but Mayhem's engines failed, causing it to crash onto the Ark's surface which rendered the vessel inoperable. After Mayhem scanned the surrounding area to make sure it was safe, the expedition left to attempt to stop the Halo Array from firing, and the ship's crew started work on repairs.[9]
The expedition eventually returned after completing their mission, however the ship was still far from being repaired, luckily a fleet of UNSC ships exited slipspace over the Ark and located Mayhem. The UNSC Witness lifted what it could of Mayhem into its hangar bay and returned to Earth.[10]
