Halo: Fractures: Extraordinary Tales from the Halo Canon is an upcoming collection of short stories set for release on September 20, 2016, serving as the spiritual sequel to Halo: Evolutions. The stories within the anthology will range from the Forerunner era, to the aftermath of the Human-Covenant War, to the events of Halo 5: Guardians. Joseph Staten's Halo: Shadow of Intent and Frank O'Connor's Halo: Saint's Testimony will also be included in Fractures.[1] A preview for one of the stories in Fractures, Lessons Learned, was included with the first Halo Legendary Crate.[3]

Follows the activities of Spartan-IIIs Lucy-B091 and Tom-B292 after their service with Blue Team. Written by Matt Forbeck, the story also contains significant narrative connections to Forbeck's Halo: New Blood and the upcoming Halo: Legacy of Onyx.

Shadow of Intent

Focuses on a conflict between Tem'Bhetek, a vengeful San'Shyuum Prelate, and Shipmaster Rtas 'Vadum several months after the Covenant War. It was written by Joseph Staten and was previously released as a standalone work.

A Necessary Truth

This story takes place three months after the United Nations Space Command’s extraction of the 717th research battalion by the elite Spartan Blue Team from the volatile and besieged colony of Gao Halo: Last Light. It was written by Troy Denning.
Into the Fire

This story takes place four years after the end of the Covenant’s brutal and costly rampage across human-occupied space (Halo 3 era) and Kilo-Five’s brief mission on Venezia, culminating in the destruction of the highly-sought-after Covenant battle cruiser Pious Inquisitor Halo: Mortal Dictata. It was written by Kelly Gay.
