Trivia

  • While "heavy carrier" is not a historical ship class, given the ship class's significant tonnage it may be synonymous with "supercarrier," another ship class that, while not a modern formal designation, is used by the UNSC Navy.
  • The carrier's first appearance will be in an as-of-yet unnamed tabletop miniature wargame that will be released in 2015. Epoch-class heavy carrier's appearance was designed based off of concept art for Halo 2, Halo Wars, Halo 4, and concepts from Blur Studio. The carrier went through the most revisions out of any other ship designed for the game. The Epoch was designed to feature aesthetics from various UNSC ships to document a transition between Covenant War and post-war UNSC Navy vessels. The structure of the carrier was based off of the Phoenix-class colony ship, although it was designed to give the UNSC's industrial and militaristic feel.[2]
