Forums: Index General Discussion Most difficult Halo achievement
Forumheader-image.png

Just for fun, I thought we could come up with a list what we believe to be the most difficult achievements across every Halo game. Seeing as I've unlocked every one (save Halo 2 Vista, I'd say I've got some experience in the matter. I invite everyone else to suggest what they feel are the most difficult achievements. Any that gave them a lot of trouble, or continue to. We can have some fun narrowing down the list, and in the end come up with something like a top 10 list, or even the single most difficult achievement.

Before I start the list, I feel it necessary to outline what makes an achievement difficult. For me there are five factors which make an achievement difficult. Time consuming - the achievement requires a lot of time and a lot of grinding to unlock. Other players - the achievement is dependant on the actions/choices of another player (i.e. That Won't Save You, Paper Beats Rock). Co-op - the achievement that can only be unlocked in online co-op play. Situational - the achievement can only be unlocked in situations which rarely occur. And finally Objective difficulty - the achievement requires actions which are objectively difficult to pull off.

You won't find many campaign achievements listed. That's because most campaign achievements can be achieved with perseverance alone; if you keep at it, eventually you'll succeed. The most difficult achievements are those which also require skill and luck, without which you can try forever and never unlock them.--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty-112 Admin comm 16:18, 1 December 2013 (EST)

Preliminary list

The following list is preliminary, and divided by title. Also note that older achievements tend to get harder as time goes on, as multiplayer achievements get more and more difficult due to decreased matchmaking population.

Halo 2 Vista
Halo 3

Honorable mention goes Zombie Repeller and Delicious Brains, both of which were easy to unlock when released, but now are difficult due to the rarity of Infection games.

Halo Wars
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Reach
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary
Halo 4

Honorable mention to Special Delivery, which is very difficult to pull off as intended, but glitched so badly that most people unlock it under completely different circumstances.

Halo Spartan Assault

Discussion

So what do we think? Are there any achievements you found particularly hard that were left out? Any included that you found easy? Have your say and we'll whittle the list down, until we've found the most difficult achievement(s) ever.--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty-112 Admin comm 16:18, 1 December 2013 (EST)

I'm guessing Two for One might be the hardest. I'm not even sure if there are any FFA maps that have splazers in them. This is craZboy557, signing off. 16:27, 1 December 2013 (EST)

I'd have to say that the Vidmaster achievements mentioned above are the hardest I've ever attempted to unlock. They were definitely time consuming, needed a lot of teamwork, and were extremely difficult to pull off under the circumstances. I still haven't unlocked Vidmaster Annual. Close second for me is If They Came to Hear Me Beg, because I could hardly ever time my fall correctly.--Spartacus TalkContribs 16:34, 1 December 2013 (EST)

I'm going to say this, the two achievements for Halo: CE anniversary, I achieved both at the same time (thanks to RC Master). I also achieved the incredibly difficult "If They Came to Hear Me Beg" after a few tries. And with that being said, campaign and maybe firefight achievements are easier and "possible" to achieve on your own. Multiplayer achievements on the other hand are nearly impossible to achieve and just flat out OUTRAGEOUS. It makes me wonder who put them together in the first place. You're pretty much going to have to have a friend or stranger over xblv help you achieve it which kind of defeats the purpose of the achievement in the first place. Just a waste of time IMO. That's why most gamers say no to multiplayer achievements because you can't achieve them.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 18:07, 1 December 2013 (EST)

Totally agree with you as I never even attempt to unlock multiplayer achievements. If I do happen to unlock one, it's usually by accident.--Spartacus TalkContribs 18:08, 5 December 2013 (EST)
I don't mind them as long as they're for something you can control and are about skill, not dumb luck. Dorkly makes a good and funny argument against them, too.--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty-112 Admin comm 19:03, 5 December 2013 (EST)

I'd just like to point out the Overkill achievement from Halo 3. Whether or not this was just my complete failure to gain a seemingly simple achievement, this took me two years to gain. Considering there were so few people in a Lone Wolf game, and the extremely low chance that you will see four people in one area, this was incredibly difficult. But my goodness, the Commando helmet was a lovely reward. —TentacleTornado 07:18, 6 December 2013 (EST)

I Got it at the same time as the sword triple kill achievement. :shades: So I didn't find it too hard, but maybe I got lucky. This is craZboy557, signing off. 14:29, 6 December 2013 (EST)

Anyone want to get some of the VM achievements? I think annual actually might not be too hard, as well as its ODST equivalent. Of course, the Firefight one might be rather hard. Might be able to strike a few off the list based on the results if we do this. This is craZboy557, signing off. 15:05, 7 December 2013 (EST)

I already have them all, but if anyone is looking for another player I'll be happy to help. That being said, I won't have time for at least a couple of weeks, and then my holiday schedule is pretty unpredictable. I recommend looking up the Spartan 1 Project. They're a group that specializes in helping people get achievements. They helped me get Annual and Endure--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty-112 Admin comm 15:47, 7 December 2013 (EST)
Probably won't use that, as I partially intend to see how difficult they are. This is craZboy557, signing off. 16:19, 7 December 2013 (EST)
