While the specific location of a Halcyon-class cruiser's MAC cannon is not known it is most likely near center of the ship. In the Halo books it is said that a UNSC ship's MAC cannon could obliterate a human built vessel with just one shot and severly damage an unshielded Covenant vessel. In order to do this with nothing but magnets and a slug, 1.you need multiple powerful magnets and 2.there must be sufficient time for the slug to accelerate to the maximum speed. To allow for both of these the whole of the MAC gun most likely runs almost the entire length of a UNSC cruiser's interior. Seeing how long the [http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Pillar_of_Autumn Pillar of Autumn]is there would be plenty of room for the slug to accelerate. Also take into consideration the design of [http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Cairo Cairo Station]. After exiting the cargo elevator if the player looks up they can see the Super MAC in action. The slug travels through the entire length of the tower and exits at the very top. Next when the player enters the final room on the Cairo Station level they can see the slugs being loaded into the base of the MAC tower before it is fired.

As for the Pillar of Autumn the likely location for the muzzle of the MAC is at the very front of the ship.

=== Location of MAC in Halo: Fall of Reach ===
[[Image:PoA.jpg|250px|right|thumb|The MAC appears to run inside the hull along the bottom of the ship with the three firing ports exposed above and behind the suspended armor panels on the bottom forend of the vessel, allowing the ship to fire  its prototype main gun.]]
According to the fictional novel, Halo: The Fall of Reach, the MAC is situated in a different location.  The location is referenced in the dialogue between Captain Keyes and Lieutenant Hikowa during the Pillar of Autumn's shakedown cruise on page 275.  Upon being asked where the most vulnerable part of the ship was, she responds:<br><br> ''Bottom fore. . .along the lay of the MAC system.  There are very few gunnery enplacements there.  Transient magnetic bursts tend to magnetize the weapons.''<br><br>This would suggest that the MAC is located along the bottom of the ship.

It can speculated from the aforementioned reference that the MAC rounds are fired out of the three "firing ports" that protrude slightly above and behind the angled armored panels at the bottom forend of the ship.  The Pillar of Autumn's capability to fire three simultaneous rounds (as seen when the vessel engages and neutralizes a Covenant carrier in an astroid field in the Epsilon Eridnai system on its way to aid in the defence of Reach) would support this theory.
