*It is likely that when Mendicant Bias said it will help the Master Chief. It could have been locking doors that were not needed and cutting a path. Also, in the last stage, it could have been holding up the path for the Chief as hard as it could. That might be why the path only falls after you pass it.

*In many ways, Mendicant Bias may have kept his word about keeping the Chief safe and making his path stable. He might have been the one who caused Installation 04 (II) to rise from the Ark's foundry, and using the projection of Cortana to lure the Master Chief and Arbiter so that they could find it. Also, on the last level, on the cutscene after you enter the control room and hear the approaching Flood, he may have been the one who locked the doors, so that the Chief could complete his job without interferences from the parasite. Lastly, Bias may have wanted to show his masters an example of atonement by changing the coordinates of the Ark's portal at the very last millisecond, allowing the Arbiter to continue to Earth, but causing the Chief to come out at the unknown planet. Isn't it a concidence that the Chief is adrift around a planet seemingly of Forerunner design? If all of the Forerunners are gone, why does he stilll want forgiveness for his sins? Does Bias know something we don't?
