Luyten is a human Inner Colony world of the Unified Earth Government,[3] located in the Luyten 726-8 system.[1] Relatively close to the Sol system, Luyten is approximately a six-day travel from Earth via slipstream space.[4] Luyten is comparatively smaller than the colonies in the Sol and Epsilon Eridani systems, though a strong, densely populated core world nonetheless.[3]

Overview[edit]

Ecology[edit]

The Hoodoo Gorges on Lutyen are home to nightgyr, a species of small and harmless (to humanity) winged lizards who hunt smaller prey such as blood mots and thumb birds. The recurrence of thumb birds is a yearly occurrence on Luyten, with the birds spreading fever and plague across the planet - something aided by the nightgyr's preying upon them.[5] The apocritii are a species of nocturnal hunters also native to the planet.[6]
