Sangheili employ huts as temporary living quarters and field command centers when deployed on the battlefield. They are used in much the same way as the military tents over the course of human history.[2]
One type of Sangheili hut used during the Human-Covenant War was hexahedral in layout, gold and silver in color, and was equipped with energy shielding. The huts were also heavily guarded, with several Shade turrets posted along the outer perimeter.[3] A Covenant base set up in the Longhorn Valley on Reach on August 30, 2552 had several Sangheili tents guarded by multiple Shades and a line of dozens of Wraiths.[2]
After the Battle of Sunaion on Sanghelios in late October, 2558—and the subsequent planetary shutdown caused by a Guardian there—the Arbiter's Swords of Sanghelios and a few surviving members of the UNSC retreated to his camp at Nuusra, where, upon the return of Spartan Fireteam Osiris and Blue Team from Genesis, they celebrated the fall of Jul 'Mdama's Covenant with a barbecue.[1][4]
