Biography[edit]

Battle of Installation 04[edit]

Main article: Battle of Installation 04

Lister was one of many ODSTs stationed on the Autumn in August 2552, when the ship was able to escape the Fall of Reach and emerge over Installation 04. Lister was able to survive the ODST deployment onto the ring, and ultimately called upon to fill the role of commanding B Company's 2nd Platoon. On the night of September 19, 2552, 2nd Platoon CO Dalu had been reassigned to act as a supply officer for a raid on Truth and Reconciliation, requiring Lister to step in to fill Dalu's role for a simultaneous attack on the downed Pillar of Autumn. On the evening prior to the attack, Lister was charged with inspecting the assembled troops at Alpha Base before being tasked with leading 2nd Platoon on a march to the Pillar of Autumn, situated around a kilometre from the base.[2]

Following the successful assault on the cruiser, Lister and 2nd Platoon were tasked with keeping the Covenant forces still inside the Pillar of Autumn penned in and sealed away from the hangar and cargo storage areas to allow the ODST force to loot the ship unopposed.[3] With the convoy's return trip back to Alpha Base, Lister and 2nd Platoon were tasked with manning the force's M808B Scorpion tanks, in which Lister took the callsign of Green One, and relayed orders to the other tanks throughout the engagement.[1]

Lister was later involved in the defense of Alpha Base, and was one of the first Marines to reach the base's landing pads after the start of the attack.[4] Later on, he was involved in an attempted ambush on Covenant forces and came face-to-face with the Flood for the first time. During the engagement, Lister came into close contact with a Flood carrier form, which was able to explode with force enough to knock him over.[5] Following discovery of the buildup of a Flood force preparing to attack Alpha Base, Lister was tasked to lead a team underneath the base to investigate the disturbance while engineers prepared a solution to seal the gap.[6]

Lister ultimately survived this short engagement,[6] though was presumably killed by the time of the destruction of Installation 04 on September 22, alongside all other UNSC forces on the ring.
