*Sucks -- CSS is much more powerful.
*It's outdated, it's obsolete.
*Support for it will be dropped in the future -- web browsers will stop supporting it, and it will stop working.
SPAN tags with CSS are much better for a few reasons.
*They're not deprecated -- they will, for ''all'' of the foreseeable future, always work.
*You can use multiple properties on them without requiring multiple elements. The code "
Italic bold red text
" is more memory-efficient for users than "
Italic bold red text
", even though it's longer.
*You can specify the color as a name (
color:red
, though the choices are limited), hex triplet (
color:#FF0000
), shorthand hex triplet (
color:#F00
=
color:#FF0000
), or RGB (
color:rgb(255,0,0)
) -- it's much more flexible.
So, in summation, try to stay away from FONT tags, and this article needs to be changed to stop recommending them. [[User talk:DavidJCobb|DavidJCobb]] 22:05, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Problem with the info on font colors[edit]

Uh... yeah. Guys, don't use the HTML FONT tag. It's deprecated -- for those who aren't experienced with web development, that means that the FONT tag

 • Sucks -- CSS is much more powerful.
 • It's outdated, it's obsolete.
 • Support for it will be dropped in the future -- web browsers will stop supporting it, and it will stop working.

SPAN tags with CSS are much better for a few reasons.

 • They're not deprecated -- they will, for all of the foreseeable future, always work.
 • You can use multiple properties on them without requiring multiple elements. The code "Italic bold red text" is more memory-efficient for users than "Italic bold red text", even though it's longer.
 • You can specify the color as a name (color:red, though the choices are limited), hex triplet (color:#FF0000), shorthand hex triplet (color:#F00 = color:#FF0000), or RGB (color:rgb(255,0,0)) -- it's much more flexible.

So, in summation, try to stay away from FONT tags, and this article needs to be changed to stop recommending them. DavidJCobb 22:05, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
