The piece is a slow, mournful one that would appear to be symbolic of the death caused by the war, and the 'heavy price' that must be paid for it.

It is heard on the Halo 2 main menu, and at the start of the Halo 2 level Uprising, as Thel 'Vadamee discovers the bodies of his fellow Sangheili, who were executed by the Jiralhanae.
