Lee R Wilson Memorial
The Lee R. Wilson Memorial is a Halo 3 multiplayer achievement. It was awarded for getting five grenade sticks in a single game of ranked free-for-all playlist. It is worth 5 Gamerscore.
The achievement is named after Lee Wilson, a Bungie employee was known for using grenades to stick opponents.[1]
It is represented by a 16-pointed star with a Plasma Grenade with a "5" on it.
Following the shutdown of Xbox 360 Halo online services on January 13, 2022, this achievement is no longer attainable.[2][3]
Methods[edit]
- Guardian on any game type - Players could camp near lift (grenades spawn there) and run towards anyone who got close and Plasma Grenade them.
- Swords was probably the best gametype to score "stick" medals. Instead of attacking enemies players could instead throw a sticky. The close-quarters nature of the fighting increased the odds of a successful stick, though players risked being killed by their own splash damage.
- In Snowbound and/or Epitaph, player could stay by the shield doors. Once someone attempted to go through, they could quickly go through the shield door and throw a sticky at him/her and go back through the door to avoid the splash damage.
- Oddball games were a great way of getting this achievement. Players would often be focused on the ball or ball carrier, opening them up to be ambushed by the achievement hunter. It also facilitated close-quarters fighting, which made sticking other players easier.
- Playing on smaller maps generally made it easier to earn this achievement.
- This achievement was also easier to obtain with the introduction of the MLG FFA playlist. Since Heretic was by far the most common map in this playlist, it was easy to rack up grenade sticks due to players spawning with plasma grenades rather than frags. Not only that, but the map is small enough to give a better likelihood of grenades sticking the target.
Trivia[edit]
- This achievement could be unlocked by using either plasma or spike grenades.
- The five sticks did not need to be completed in a single life, just over the course of a single match.
- Another possible Bungie reference is the fact that the emblem adds up to 21(16 spikes + the number 5 on the achievement), which of course is a multiple of 7.
- A similar achievement is earned for getting 5 sticks in one level in Halo 3: ODST.
