Unggoy
Create a page for Tundra?
Escuse me Dragonclaws.

I come from much experience at Wikipedia and especially the Wookiepedia (starwars.wikia.com), and i'm very used to a certain format. Granted, this is just one guy grumbling, but i think i have a valid point. If you look at my recent additions to the file of Avery Jones Johnson, this is a great change from the format of the rest of the artices. However, allow me to explain. I see this as an encyclopedia, written after all of these events have ocured in the past tense. I also beleive the articles would benefit from having the images within them rather than following, making the article more user friendly and easier on the eye.

take a look at the Wookiepeidia's format. Personally, i like the way its organized and was thinking of starting one with a similar format, but dealing with Halo. Seeing that this already exists, i am coming looking for a better way to organize the articles here. Please take a look at the article and tell me what you think of it, seeing as you are an admin here. please give me feedback on how you think the others would accept this new style: no real-world references within bios, technical names of weapons instead of nicknames (M12 LRV as opposed to warthog/SR AM Sniper Rifle rather than sniper rifle), and a few more minor deelies here and there.
Hey, do you think Halopedia should have a page for the forged variant of Sandbox, Tundra, shown in the weekly update this week?

another issue which brings me here is the naming of the covenant. Personally, i do not like how the main title is "Grunt" or "Jackal" rather than "Unggoy" or "Kig-Yar". In my beleifs, shouldn't the proper name be the title, and then other cultural nomenclature come second? Redirects are not that hard to do, so it's not as if the other articles would be messed up with these changes. Just a thought.
This map will be in matchmaking, and I think, should have a page.

thanks for listening.
Agree?

Show/Hide buttons
:I think it was a excellent overhaul of the article. Wookiepedia does indeed seem to be a well-functioning wiki, and its format does look appealing. I would agree that Halopedia could do with some reformating, any help would be appriciated.
Hey, Dragonclaws! I've recently made the UNSC Sidebar template, and I found out that Halopedia apparently doesn't support the show/hide button feature. The template is fairly long, and it would really need those little show/hide buttons for the lists in order to be used properly.

:Until a few months ago, we were unable to upload images to the wiki. They had to be linked in from off-site, and, if you wanted them on the side of the page, you had to use html. It was out of convenience that we just stuck them all under a header at the bottom. Now that the uploading works, I have been trying to move images to the sides of the articles, however, it is hard when there are more images than there is room.
I saw this page: http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:ShowHide_content. It says there's some kind of plug-in that can be added to the MediaWiki files in order for the show/hide buttons to function. I was thinking it might be helpful in making this feature work on the site. I've also contacted Manticore regarding this, but I haven't received a reply yet. Thanks a million! --<font color="darkblue">UNSC Trooper</font> <font color="green">Talk</font><font color="green">My Work</font> 18:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

:As for the race names, while "Unggoy" is the proper name of the race, this has only been mentioned in Conversations from the Universe. The average gamer will not understand if he starts reading about how to kill SpecOps Sangheili, and will have to visit each page to realize which species is being refered to. Similarly, the English Wikipedia uses Japanese people as the article title, only noting that they refer to themselves as "Nihon-jin".  --Dragonclaws 16:46, 4 June 2006 (EDT)

Question
Hey Dragonclaws,

How do you change the color of a template???
Though I have a problem with the image, if you do insist on placing it on a blog for everyone to read, just remember that we do have Jewish and by extension, Israeli users. As for the Satanists, I don't give two sh!ts about them.
-gb2u

:If you look at the template here, there are these "#"s followed by six alphanumeric characters, which denote color. The characters are hexadecimal, going from 0 - 15, but using letters A - F after 9. The first two characters determine how much red goes into it, with 00 being none and FF being maximum. The other character sets are green and blue, respectively. Specific color codes can be found on lists on the web, or in color slection menus of graphic programs. --Dragonclaws 09:28, 30 June 2006 (EDT)

As I don't mod myself, I can't correct any misinformation which may be added. Perhaps it would just be best to link to another site in the Modding article. Thanks about the templates. I'm wondering about three things:
Kingdom Hearts Wiki Staff
1. How to become an administrator?
Hello, Dragonclaws. My name is DoorToNothing, and I am a Moderator over at the Kingdom Hearts Wiki. Recently, the staff and I noticed that you have two templates that we wanted to implement into our wiki: Template:Era and Template:Eraicon. We tried to implement the the two templates onto our Wiki, with minor changes such as the image and game-name. However, even with the help of our coding master (ILHI), we still can't get it to work. We've added a few things to our MediaWiki's CSS and JS that you use to try to get it working, but still no results. Could you please take a look at our templates and MediaWiki's CSS and JS to help us get this working, and maybe even give us a draft of what our MediaWiki's CSS and JS should look like with the necessary coding? Our templates can be found here:
2. If there's an AfD process here at Halopedia?
3. Can I help to write a "How To Edit" kind of page, similar to the one found on Wikipedia?

Cheers,

:#Users are recruited by the current admins when they believe they can't handle it themselves.
Halo: Reach landing page
:#Not at the moment. It's more like: a user adds an article to :Category:Candidates for Deletion, and I check it out and decide whether or not to delete it. We don't have a very solid community here, so if I try to argue a point instead of simply acting, I'm not likely to recieve a response for quite a while. If you're planning to participate, we could create one, though.
:#Sure. We already have Help:Editing, though. So you might want to just edit that rather than write an entirely new article. --Dragonclaws 09:37, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

:::Gotcha. Ok, so for the admin stuff, I guess there's not an RfA. And, I would be willing to try to make the programming for an AfD process. The basic stuff with templates and userboxes are fine, but the harder stuff might be a bit over my head! I'll try to edit the Help:Editing as see if I can nake it better.

:::On my userpage, I've made more templates, including an exceptional article template. Would a "EA" template be ok? Like the community nominates an article that's exceptional and mentions it on the front page?
RE: Home page
:::Also, I'll be adding my templates onto the help page, if that's ok with you.
Hi, I don't know if it's a just a problem of mine, but you might want to check out the image for "vehicles" in the home page. I keep seeing a (gross) porn image with "Good april fool's day" written on it. I cannot be sure it's not just a problem of mine, since I tested one pc only, but I honestly cannot think of any other thing except it's really on the page.

:::And expanding on the administrator stuff, how long or how many edits must I accumulate before I can become one? This is purely for me to help Halopedia, not for personal status.

:::Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder. I'm using the common language. The thing is that autism is often regarded as a defect, something that afflicts people who would otherwise be normal. The term "neurotypical", which I've clarified in the longer term "neurologically typical", was coined as a way to describe "normal" people. With a name for each, it is more clear that there are two different categories of people. Autism is then treated in a less stigmatizing way. --<b><font color="#4D56B1">Dragon<font color="#F28500">c</font>laws</font>(<font color="#4D56B1">talk</font>)</b> 21:11, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Hey.

RelentlessRogue
I recently needed to preform a major edit for the assassination page, so I used a draft under my user page for the edit, as I have never made such a large one.

This user is blatently mislabeling articles as false, suggested for deletion, inaccurate, etc., but without ANY demand for such labels. For example, he has labeled EVERY ILB article for deletion, stated that the infromation for the CCS-Cruiser as inaccurate, but with no evidence for such information. I don't know what you can do about it, but I find his arrogance annoying and ignorance since he's just doing what he wants based on his opinion when wikipedia works with facts.
Mind checking it out for any mistakes I may have made before I update the main one?

Project:Featured
Hi Dragonclaws!

I come to you, knowing that you're the most active administrator when it comes to featured content (i.e. article, quotes), to propose a centralised project page for featured content. Along with this, I suggest two new featured content page for the landing page; Featured Image/Picture and Featured Video.

The format/tree-map of the central page would be as so:
*Project:Featured
**Project:Featured/Articles
**Project:Featured/Quotes
**Project:Featured/Images
**Project:Featured/Videos

In addition to this proposal, I suggest randomisation (or automatic rotation) rather than one-per-month process. It will certainly improve the uniqueness of the landing page. :) — <span style="font-size:16px; font-family:OrbitronMedium;"><span style="color:#FF4F00;">subtank</span></span> 10:58, 20 October 2011 (EDT)

Create a page for Tundra?[edit]

Hey, do you think Halopedia should have a page for the forged variant of Sandbox, Tundra, shown in the weekly update this week?

This map will be in matchmaking, and I think, should have a page.

Agree?

Show/Hide buttons[edit]

Hey, Dragonclaws! I've recently made the UNSC Sidebar template, and I found out that Halopedia apparently doesn't support the show/hide button feature. The template is fairly long, and it would really need those little show/hide buttons for the lists in order to be used properly.

--UNSC Trooper TalkMy Work 18:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Help[edit]

Hello I'm HaloFan500, Admin of Munkapedia, a Wikia that has recently become active and is trying to grow. However there is much to do. Halopedia is very sucessful, if at all possible you'd you be willing to help me, by providing templates, codings, and things of the sort. I would mainly like to have the games Templates/Codes.--Your good friend, and Admin HaloFan500 { My Talk } 05:32, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

RE: Image[edit]

Hey Dragonclaws,

Though I have a problem with the image, if you do insist on placing it on a blog for everyone to read, just remember that we do have Jewish and by extension, Israeli users. As for the Satanists, I don't give two sh!ts about them.

But yeah, just felt like giving my off-topic shenanigan comment of the week XD. Have a good one Ryan!

Rawr,
CommanderTony

Well that's good to hear, i'm a pro-Israeli guy myself, which probably isn't that big of a surprise to you or anyone else XD. CommanderTony

Spoiler Problem[edit]

In the General Disclaimer Page's spoiler section there is a little discrepancy with the Halopedia:Spoiler policy]] page.

Pfhorpedia[edit]

Hey, Dragonclaws, I found the marathon wiki after Guesty-Persony-Thingy went inactive. I saw your name on the featured users list (as well as a mention on his user page), and I was hoping that you could help me breathe some life back into the site. --Vanguard 02:34, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'm not really a Marathon fan. I never got the download to work and I don't know that much about it. I'm not sure there's really anything I can contribute. --Dragonclaws(talk) 06:14, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Is there any one else that could help?--Vanguard 23:32, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

I'm afraid I can't help you. You could try posting on one of the forums. --Dragonclaws(talk) 06:27, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks anyway.--Vanguard 13:42, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts Wiki Staff[edit]

Please and thank you, --DoorToNothing 19:46, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

RE: Home page[edit]

Hi, I don't know if it's a just a problem of mine, but you might want to check out the image for "vehicles" in the home page. I keep seeing a (gross) porn image with "Good april fool's day" written on it. I cannot be sure it's not just a problem of mine, since I tested one pc only, but I honestly cannot think of any other thing except it's really on the page.

Bye.—This unsigned comment was made by 93.34.3.171 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I suppose it is just you. The image has been fixed several days ago and none of our users have experienced any problems. You have to bypass your browser's cache to see the changes.
  • Internet Explorer: hold down the Ctrl key and click the Refresh or Reload button, or press Ctrl+F5.
  • Firefox: hold down the Shift key while clicking Reload; alternatively press Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl-Shift-R.
  • Opera users have to clear their caches through Tools→Preferences
  • Konqueror and Safari users can just click the Reload button.
  • Chrome: press Ctrl+F5 or Shift+F5

Asperger's[edit]

Hey I know someone with in my school with Asperger's too. Everybody thinks he's a little weird though. Interforce

Oh? That is common. Neurologically atypical people think differently from the neurologically typical. --Dragonclaws(talk) 19:54, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
I'd rather refer to myself as "socially atypical". Aspies don't have problems with basic motor functions, as far as I can tell. I'd prefer a more disambiguated answer, my friend *raised eyebrow look*.-- Forerunner 20:44, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder. --Dragonclaws(talk) 21:11, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Cool, aspies unite! I'd say it's more of alterntive brain setup then anything else. We're better than others in some ways, worse in others. That said, the severity of autsim and aspergers varies quite a bit. Jabberwockxeno 15:11, 12 January 2011 (EST)

Mind lending me a hand?[edit]

Hey.

I recently needed to preform a major edit for the assassination page, so I used a draft under my user page for the edit, as I have never made such a large one.

Mind checking it out for any mistakes I may have made before I update the main one?

No, but I am going to Dragon Con... which seems odd as it's on the other side of the country. I thought Summer Glau might be there, but it doesn't look like it. A lot of other stars are going, though. --Dragonclaws(talk) 15:41, 23 June 2011 (EDT)

Project:Featured[edit]

Hi Dragonclaws!

I come to you, knowing that you're the most active administrator when it comes to featured content (i.e. article, quotes), to propose a centralised project page for featured content. Along with this, I suggest two new featured content page for the landing page; Featured Image/Picture and Featured Video.

The format/tree-map of the central page would be as so:

  • Project:Featured
    • Project:Featured/Articles
    • Project:Featured/Quotes
    • Project:Featured/Images
    • Project:Featured/Videos

In addition to this proposal, I suggest randomisation (or automatic rotation) rather than one-per-month process. It will certainly improve the uniqueness of the landing page. :) — subtank 10:58, 20 October 2011 (EDT)

It sounds like a good idea, especially the automatic rotation part. We did have Featured Images at one point. Would the featured content still appear on the main page? --Dragonclaws(talk) 16:14, 20 October 2011 (EDT)
Or is that what you meant by landing page? --Dragonclaws(talk) 21:42, 20 October 2011 (EDT)
