History[edit]
Background[edit]
The Forerunners left various machinery on the planet. Raas Kkotskha was originally settled in 870 BCE at least by the Sangheili. They would end up building temple complexes to honor the Forerunners.[2]
An attempt to make some of the Forerunner machinery work would result in the planet being abandoned.[2]
Human-Covenant War[edit]
- Main article: Human-Covenant War/Silver
The Covenant would take the keystones they retrieved during the war back to Raas Kkotskha. By this time, the Sangheili temples would be in ruins. John-117, and later Silver Team, would attempt to retrieve them.[1]
Production notes[edit]
Originally, Sanghelios was intended to be the planet seen in the episode Transcendence. However, as this would have created production issues. Instead the planet Raas Kkhotskha was chosen from 343 Industries lore documentation. The details on the world were sparse though it was described as a Forerunner "lighthouse" on their slipspace network.[3]
All the scenes shot for Raas Kkhotskha were shot on Europe's largest soundstage.[3]
