Atlas is a planet in the Valence system[1] known to have multiple natural satellites, collectively known as the Atlas Moons.[2]

History[edit]

The moons of Atlas were colonized by the Unified Earth Government in 2450.[1]

During the Human-Covenant War, the moons of Atlas were attacked by the Covenant in 2538,[1] resulting in the prolonged Siege of the Atlas Moons. Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb commanded the UNSC naval forces in the battle, gaining reputation for his accomplishments,[2] and ultimately the moons of Atlas were not glassed.[1]

Trivia[edit]

The planet (like the UNSC Atlas) is named after Atlas, a titan from the Greek mythology who bore the world on his back.
