Admiral Carl "Buster" Patterson was an officer of the UNSC Navy. He was the commanding officer of UNSC Stalingrad and, by extension, Battle Group Omicron.[1] Patterson was cunning, though he was very straightforward, favoring frontal assaults in combat.[2]
Biography[edit]
Onyx Conflict[edit]
- Main article: Onyx Conflict
Patterson and his battlegroup were deployed to Onyx to reinforce the UNSC presence on the planet's surface. Arriving on November 3rd, 2552, Patterson ordered his battlegroup to attack before receiving a full scan of the planet from the UNSC Dusk. Two Covenant destroyers were destroyed before twenty additional enemy warships revealed themselves from the other side of the planet. At the cost of four of his ships, Patterson was able to escape.[3]
He set up an ambush for the Covenant ships behind the planet's moon when Commander Richard Lash set up a field of HORNET mines in space, which succeeded in destroying all but two of the ships.[4] Patterson again ordered a forward charge to wipe out the remaining ones. Thirty-two more Covenant ships emerged from slipspace around Patterson's ships in mid-charge, destroying the human fleet and killing the admiral in the process.[5]
