Halo Theme Gungnir Mix is the first track included in the first disc of the Halo 2 Anniversary Original Soundtrack. It is a new rendition of Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix from the Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, and, like the original, features Steve Vai as a soloist. Its name alludes to Project GUNGNIR. It is used as opening credits music for the audiobooks Halo: Broken Circle, Halo: New Blood, Halo: Hunters in the Dark, and Halo: Saint's Testimony.
The track is featured in Forza Horizon 5 from the Series 40 update onwards (November 5, 2024) as part of the Horizon XS radio station's playlist, albeit with the title of Halo Theme Gungnir Mix (feat. Steve Vai) and credited to just Halo.[1]
