Ghosts of Reach is the fourth track in Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, Volume 1.
Overview[edit]
The first section of the piece features strings accompanying the vocals from Remembrance, which is a reinterpretation of The Maw (from Halo: Original Soundtrack). The second section features a percussive beat (later featured, unaccompanied by strings, in Encounter in Mombasa Suite) with strings playing a high-tempo rendition of Weight Of Failure (from Prologue), which is followed by Cloistered Expectancy (the Halo 2 version of the Halo Theme from Prologue). The percussive beat ends before the Halo Theme sung by the choir ends.
The second section was reorchestrated into Black Tide from Dread Intrusion in Halo 3: Original Soundtrack. While the first section was reorchestrated into Ghosts of Reach in Halo Legends: Original Soundtrack as well as Unsullied Memory in Halo 2: Anniversary Original Soundtrack, the second section featuring percussive beats was not featured in either albums.
Appearances[edit]
The soundtrack can be heard:
- In the main menu of Halo 2 without the second section.
- In the level Outskirts, in which the percussion from the second section plays throughout the chapter A Day at the Beach, ending with the choir's section as John-117 enters the highway tunnel.
- In the background of Remember Reach, a website created by Microsoft as a section of the marketing campaign for Halo: Reach, and the accompanying video Creation of the Monument.
