m (Thought "caused the remaining covenant to flee the area" was too vague. Made it kinda sound like there was a mass rout, as opposed to two grunts running away. Changed it to just say it was the lance's unggoy.)

Like all ODSTs, Jones is very tough and professional. He is an excellent marksman, and is not afraid of enemy snipers. He also has a notable sense of humor, even in combat, as evidenced by his desire to provide the Kig-Yar a "Welcome to Earth" 'gift basket'. When he is being held hostage by a Sangheili, he orders the team to kill the Sangheili instead of saving him.

Fones is a UNSC Orbital Drop Shock Shock Trooper and a member of Second Squad, under the command of Gunnery Sergeant Marcus Stacker. He was assigned to the 7th Battalion, 105th ODST Division, onboard UNSC In Amber Clad in 2552.[1]

Battle of Mombasa[edit]

During the Battle of Mombasa, Fones and his squad, led by Gunnery Sergeant Marcus Stacker, were dispatched from the UNSC In Amber Clad to infiltrate the Covenant Syfon-pattern assault carrier Solemn Penance with John-117. Their D77-TC Pelican was shot down over Old Mombasa by a Protos-pattern Scarab. Having survived the crash, Fones reported that O'Brien was killed on impact. He, along with his squad quickly moved out to get better cover, and headed toward Hotel Zanzibar. During a skirmish with camouflaged Sangheili, a Anskum-pattern plasma grenade had landed on Fones' helmet.
