I feel like there should be some additional context to this article. The top section states this was one of the rare naval victories for the UNSC which is true of the primary battle that took place a few hours/days after the Keyes Loop, but that doesn't give the full picture of what made the initial engagement by Keyes so incredible. The UNSC was able to win naval engagements against the Covenant, but they needed to outnumber the Covenant 3 to 1 to do so and even then would usually take 2/3 casualties. What made the Keyes Loop so incredible is that Keyes was the one outnumbered 4 to 1 and by the Covenant. Engaging this battle with those odds was basically a death sentence, one of Keyes' bridge officers even tried to mutiny. Yet the despite all that Keyes not only was able to survive such odds, which alone would have been miraculous, but actually destroy 3/4s of the Covenant ships pushing this engagement into it's legendary status. I think it's the literal only time the UNSC won a naval engagement where they were outnumbered *and* inflicted more casualties then they took. -ValinShadow 14:37 June 3, 2024 | |||

Tactical Analysis[edit]
Has anyone ever come across an image or an animation that depicts a step-by-step breakdown of the Keyes Loop? I think that something like that, not too elaborate though, would greatly contribute to this article. Flag-Waving American Patriot 01:02, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- I concur. I didn't really follow what was going on. At all.

- It's fan art, and the maneuver is described on the page well enough.--Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 11:47, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Havadi's Diagram[edit]
The diagram on the back of the Havadi's place mat is labelled as being drawn by Dr. Halsey, but I'm not sure that's the case. By examining the "handwriting" on the diagram and comparing it to the "handwriting" in the journal they look very different. In the Journal on August 12, 2552 Halsey mentions meeting up with Keyes after his return to Reach after the Battle of Sigma Octanus. She states that they discussed the Keyes Loop. As I understand it, Keyes drew the diagram on the place mat and gave it to Halsey.-- Rusty UserWiki:Rusty-112|- 112 ]] 00:59, 10 April 2011 (EDT)
