A hopping slug was a lifeform indigenous to Sanghelios in the earliest days of the Covenant. Hopping slugs were known to be swallowed whole by Sangheili slitherers, which would make a slitherer appear engorged or swollen while the slug waited to be digested. An early form of Covenant corvette was noted by Vil 'Kthamee to resemble a slitherer that had recently fed on a hopping slug due to the shape of its midsection.[1]
