History[edit]
Covenant era[edit]
At some point in its history, Karava was home to an unidentified civilization. This species was discovered by the Covenant, who demanded the civilisation submit to the empire. Upon their refusal, the Covenant deployed three hundred N'weo-pattern Gigas bombers to completely wipe out the species on the planet - completely genociding them.[1] Afterwards, the planet was settled and became one of the empire's tithe-worlds.
Post-war[edit]
Karava is a backwater planet occupied by Covenant client species and non-UNSC humans. After the end of the Human-Covenant War, the Banished-controlled Enduring Conviction came to the planet where its forces laid siege to an old Covenant outpost. The outpost's distress calls were picked up by the Jiralhanae pack of warlord Jovus, who desired to pursue their leader Atriox and test his might in battle. After reaching Karava, Jovus and his warpack violently clashed with the Banished forces on the planet's surface. The battle culminated with Jovus declining to side with the Banished and his fatal defeat in a face-off with Atriox.[3]
In 2558, Petra Janecek, Captain Thomas Lasky, and Spartan Naiya Ray travelled to Karava to find out information about the attack on the Ealen IV peace talks. They went to Karava's trade port, Kor Delban, and met with Petra's contact, Zef 'Trahl.[2]
