On a related note, since we're having our quote pages reworked anyway, there's something else we could borrow from Wikiquotes: separate "Quotes" and "Dialogue" sections. That is, instead of listing quotes exclusively by that given character we would have a separate section for notable quotes that are part of an exchange. This is because many quotable lines lose their impact when separated from their context, and thus require both sides of the conversation to work. For example:
*"...you... keep it. I do know how to pick 'em."
It's from an important character moment, but it doesn't really work all by itself. Instead, we'd have this in the Dialogue section:
*Cortana: "You found me."
*Cortana: "But so much of me is wrong... out of place. You might be too late..."
*John-117: "You know me. When I make a promise..."
*Cortana: "You... keep it. I do know how to pick 'em."
*John-117: "Lucky me. Do you still have it?"
*Cortana: "The Activation Index from the first Halo ring. A little souvenir I hung onto...just in case. Got an escape plan?"
*John-117: "Thought I'd try shooting my way out - mix things up a little."
*Cortana:  "Just keep your head down... There's two of us in here now, remember."

Apologies for taking it a while to put it in. Update[edit]

This is a proposal to implement some amendments that I think would improve the policy (click me). Some of the terms are intentionally left ambiguous, allowing some flexibility and promotes user discussion. Oh, ignore the big red button, the experimental Forerunner image and the hate-me guy. :P — subtank 07:15, 26 September 2013 (EDT)

Adding in a section on "Quotability"?[edit]

*poke*

Would anyone find it fitting to incorporate Wikiquotes's Quotability standard into this policy page? It is quite helpful in dealing with unnecessary quotes currently listed and also for future additions. Of course, some of them would not be relevant or necessary to the wiki's operation, such as "Recentism vs. the Test of Time" and "Verifiability". — subtank 11:24, 3 October 2013 (EDT)

That seems like it could be useful. Go for it.--Spartacus TalkContribs 11:44, 3 October 2013 (EDT)

We could add the bit that randomized gameplay and Firefight lines (well, obviously apart from the aforementioned grunts and the like) can be included in their entirety in sections of their own, despite their often dubious quotability, by virtue of not being listed anywhere else. So, for instance, the Gravemind's gameplay quotes are fine because they've got to be listed somewhere, whereas random, completely unquotable lines currently on the quote page (e.g. "Not by choice.") can go. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 11:37, 19 February 2014 (EST)
