The BR85 Heavy Barrel Service Rifle (BR85HB SR)[1] is a semi-automatic service rifle employed by UNSC forces in the post-Human-Covenant War era.
Overview
Design
The BR85HB Service Rifle is a gas-operated, magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle.[1] It is optimized for three-round bursts, and proves to be effective against the energy shielding of many types of armor.
Gameplay
The BR85HB SR has a 2x scope. The weapon features hitscan, and lacks bloom. When fired, the barrel rises vertically, but in a suppressible way. It is useful for longer-range engagements.[1]
Trivia
During development of Halo 4, the weapon's textures were incorrectly labelled as the "BR55HB SR", as seen on the rifle's body.[2] It may have been used as a placeholder.
