If you take the tank to where the Pelican drops supplies and reinforcements. Use the tank to reach the top of the building. You should do this before the Pelican drops its supplies on the tank and destroys it. Once on top of the building wait for the Pelican to drop off the Marines. You can then jump onto the Pelican before it leaves. Once on the Pelican, stand near the front or where a slope or projection will keep you from sliding toward the back when the Pelican takes off. If you don't fall off, the Pelican will take you up out of the level. As it picks up speed an unseen force will try to push you off. At this point whether you jump off, or fall off you are out of the level. I'm not sure if it's possible to ride the Pelican until it lands or not, but it might be I can't remember.  I'm still a little fuzzy on all the posting details so any help or editing is appreciated.
