Orbital taxis are a type of human orbital transport craft. The taxis are unmanned, and are used to transport passengers between a planet surface or orbital platforms and ships such as passenger liners.[1]
In 2524, two orbital taxis loaded with explosives were used by insurrectionists to destroy the passenger liner National Holiday over Reach. The ship's captain assumed the taxis were bringing late-arriving passengers, but after they failed to comply with his hails and docking commands, the captain attempted to initiate evasive maneuvers. However, due to the amount of explosives that were packed into the two taxis and the ensuing explosion, the National Holiday was unable to get far enough away and was subsequently torn in half.[1]
