The MA3 Assault Rifle is a predecessor of the MA5B Individual Combat Weapon System used by the UNSC Marine Corps and the UNSC Navy. The weapon became obsolete when the MA5B was introduced, as the MA5B was capable of being stripped down and reconfigured for specific situations.
As of 2552, production of the MA3 had ceased, though it was common on the black market and was favored among terrorist organizations.[1] The United Rebel Front guards on Eridanus Secundus were armed with MA3s, which replaced the Heavy Machine Gun-38s they had previously used.[2]
