Establishing a small ground force, the [[Charlie Platoon]] encountered [[Flood|unknown alien organisms]], managing to defeat several of them. The Spirit of Fire was attacked by [[Forerunner]] [[Sentinels]], requiring an immediate evacuation. Pelican dropships attempted to pick Charlie Platoon up directly, but were intercepted by hostile aerial units, forcing the Marines to return to base on foot for pickup.
