Long Time Coming was a prospecting vessel in commission with the Office of Naval Intelligence.[1][2] The ship had a sizeable cargo bay for prospecting equipment and a transmitter for raising a Slipbeacon.[3]
History
Some time after the Battle of Tribute during the Human-Covenant War, this ship carried SPARTAN-II Team Black for a covert mission in a Covenant-controlled sector of space. Unfortunately, the ship was mysteriously destroyed while in Slipspace. Consequently, it transitioned back to normal space and crash landed on an unknown Moon.[3]

Notes
- ^ The Battle of Verge, which took place concurrently with the Battle of Tribute, had already taken place at this point, as evidenced by remarks by Team Black in Issue 1. Additionally, the story takes place before Reach falls, narrowing the timeframe to the month of August.
