Ambient A.I. are Artificial Intelligences in Halo 3 that have a have a programmed animation that confines them to a certain area which they can not leave. For the most part, they ignore the player unless approached, and can be killed just like any other A.I. Instances that include them are the Technicians in Crow's Nest, the wounded Marines in Tsavo Highway and The Storm, the Banshees and Hornets in various levels, and the Final Grunt, among others. They are not featured in Halo 1 and Halo2 2, except for the Thirsty Grunt in Halo CE.
It is interesting to note that they do not count towards the Meta-Game Scoring System in Halo 3. This is because they are not actual "allies" or "foes". This does not include the ambient Banshee or the Hornet, however.
