A Covenant Storage Device is a form of storage for Covenant information, similar to the UNSC's own Data Crystal Chips. The block consists of a brick shaped-chunk of a superdense material unknown to human kind. Its' capacity is apparently unknown also, but it is likely to be prodigious.[1]
Though Humans do not fully understand the technology, they are still capable of retrieving the data from these devices, or at least their AI constructs can.[1]
Trivia
- The Covenant Storage Device was thought to hold Cortana in it. After fighting through the level, the Master Chief manages to retrieve it in the level Floodgate. Later when it is repaired, it turns out to only contain a message from Cortana.
