The Covenant Storage Device is a carry size massive memory storage unit, that in the level Floodgate was thought to hold Cortana in it. After fighting through the level, the Master Chief manages to retrieve it. Later when it is repaired it turns out to only contain a message from Cortana.
A Covenant Storage Device is a form of storage for Covenant information, similar to the UNSC's own Data Crystal Chips. The block consists of a brick shaped-chunk of a superdense material unknown to human kind. Its' capacity is apparently unknown also, but it is likely to be prodigious.[1]
