The Prototype BR-55 Battle Rifle (likely referred to with an X for identifying it as an experimental weapon) is "a prototype long barreled weapon with an optical scope."[1] The weapon fires 9.5MMx40 FMJ SAP ammunition[2] from a 60 round magazine [3] It was issued to Staff Sergeants Avery J. Johnson and Nolan Byrne as well as their militia squads' marksmen, Critchley and Jenkins by Lieutenant Commander Jilan al-Cygni for use during the Harvest event during the year 2525.
Trivia
- This was the first weapon to be used against the Covenant and caused the first death of the aliens by the Humans.
- The prototype resembles the BR55HB SR much more than the BR55 variation.
- It has a range of at least 950 meters.
