There are few glitches in Halo 3, but in those that do exist, many of them are triggered by the Trip Mine. Note- Almost all of these Glitches are to be performed in Forge. However, if you save you map with the following instructions for the Basic Mine Glitch, you can still use the glitches in custom games.

Basic Mine Glitch
The Trip Mine Glitches are various glitches in Halo 3 that depend on the usage of one or more Trip Mines.
This is how it was all started. The following can be used to make walls of mines, piles, and to be used on the below glitches.

1. Select any map you wish to use this on in Forge.
Infinite Trip Mines / Overloading
This trick is the application of Halo 3<nowiki/>'s Instant Respawn bug. Instant-Respawn Trip Mines are used to overload a map.

2. Spawn at least 1 trip mine (it will go faster if you spawn more)  and make them respawn intsantly (Do this by setting your run-time minimum and maximum to the number of trip mines you spawn).
#Start a match in Forge.
#Enter Edit Mode, and place a Trip Mine.
#Use the Instant Respawn trick on the Trip Mine.
#Return to Player Mode and stand on top of where the Trip Mine spawns. You should pick it up.
#Throw it out in front of you. You should immediately pick up another.
#Keep throwing Trip Mines. Eventually, you will overload the map.

3. Simply throw mines until the level can't take anymore ( you will know when this happens when the first ones you put down start dissapearing or blow up.)
Eventually, the pile of Trip Mines will detonate on its own (as a Trip Mine explodes automatically after 90 seconds). Sometimes, after the explosion, some of the Mines will reappear again, as if nothing had happened.

4. When the mines blow you up or kill you, occasionally they will appear with the same number again as if nothing happened. ( you need to plant at least 30 mines for this to happen)

Overload Snowbound Glitch
This glitch can be performed on Snowbound. If you overload Snowbound, the Guardians won't shoot at you when you leave the level, and the shield doors will be deactivated.  The Guardians will disappear at first, then respawn later, but not shoot you.

Overload Elephant/Guardians Glitch
This is performed on Sandtrap. Simply throw down trip mines until the map overloads, and the Elephant will overload and vanish, as well as the guardians for the minefield. Note- Once the mines detonate, the Elephant will reappear, but the mines are still overloaded for that match and won't blow you up anymore. Note- You may also flip the Elephant using about 30 mines(35 to 40 usually makes the Elephant vanish) if you wish, just be sure to be far away and place them close enough to affect it. Once you have done that, shoot the pile when you are ready. If not done correctly, or if the mines get too close to you, you will die.

This can also disable the guardians on Sandbox (Level)

Overload Gravity Lift Glitch
The Overload Gravity Lift Glitch can be performed on any map that has a Gravity Lift, for example Construct. Simply overload any map that has a grav lift, and it will overload and vanish. This applies for all the lifts on any map in Multiplayer. This can be useful for deactivating them in say a game like Infection. Note- With this glitch performed in Construct, it is possible to get under the map once the lifts are gone. Just go to one of the purple lifts and spawn a Teleporter under it to achieve this.

Overload Fx Filters
This glitch also allows you to overload the Fx Filters (such as "Nova" and "Juicy") causing their effect to vanish. This is extremely useful if someone has made a Nova and you can't seem to find it.

Other Uses
This glitch can be used in custom games, just be sure to save a map that has the mines placed somewhere. During a game you can make a wall of mines, disable lifts to make a game harder, or just die in a spectacular fashion. Whatever you can come up with with this glitch is probably possible.

The Trip Mine Glitches are various glitches in Halo 3 that depend on the usage of one or more Trip Mines.

Infinite Trip Mines / Overloading

This trick is the application of Halo 3's Instant Respawn bug. Instant-Respawn Trip Mines are used to overload a map.

 1. Start a match in Forge.
 2. Enter Edit Mode, and place a Trip Mine.
 3. Use the Instant Respawn trick on the Trip Mine.
 4. Return to Player Mode and stand on top of where the Trip Mine spawns. You should pick it up.
 5. Throw it out in front of you. You should immediately pick up another.
 6. Keep throwing Trip Mines. Eventually, you will overload the map.

Eventually, the pile of Trip Mines will detonate on its own (as a Trip Mine explodes automatically after 90 seconds). Sometimes, after the explosion, some of the Mines will reappear again, as if nothing had happened.
