The 'Drone Engineer is a type of Covenant Drone which is depicted inside the Art of Halo book.

Background

Although they do not appear in any of the Halo games, they were fully realized in design terms. Their combination of insect organics and cybernetics makes them a unique-looking creature in the Covenant bestiary. And since they can actually fly, with the aid of gas-filled bladders on their backs, they behave differently, too. This species can be biomechanically and cybernetically altered to suit specific tasks, other than engineering and maintenance.[1]
