'Lance Corporal "'Snaky"' Jones was a UNSC Marine and ODST. Being a sharpshooter with the Helljumpers, he bore a Sniper Rifle in combat.
Biography
Jones was one of the Marines stationed on the Pillar of Autumn and was aboard it when it crashed. Under the command of First Lieutenant Melissa McKay, Jones joined a convoy that was ferrying supplies to Alpha Base. However, Covenant ground forces under the command of Noga 'Putumee soon attacked the convoy using Wraiths, Banshees, and Ghosts. Jones was in the fourth Warthog with Sergeant Corly when the vehicle was hit by a plasma mortar round from a Wraith. Corly was killed but Jones was thrown free.[1] Once recovered, he climbed a top a hill from which to ply his revenge when Corly died.
Targets soon presented themselves in the forms of two Elites, one being Minor Domo Elite Ado 'Mortumee and the other the Zealot Noga 'Putumee himself. For unknown reasons Jones chose to kill the lesser ranked Elite first.[2] His first shot decapitated 'Mortumee, but his second at 'Putumee missed. The Covenant commander responded by calling down Banshees to locate the human and kill him.[3]
It is possible Jones was the Marine sniper on the level Halo on Combat Evolved, when the Master Chief was looking for survivors after arrival on Installation 04.
Jones' subsequent fate is unknown. Most likely he and his fellow ODSTs that survived the battles of Installation 04 were killed in the detonation of the Pillar of Autumn's fusion drive core.
