Lance Corporal "Snaky" Jones is a UNSC Marine and ODST. Jones was a sniper with the Helljumpers, always carrying a Sniper Rifle with him. He swore a lot and enjoyed candy bars.

He was one of the Marines stationed on the Pillar of Autumn and was aboard it when it crashed.

Under the command of First Lieutenant Melissa McKay, Jones was in a convoy that was ferrying supplies to Alpha Base. Covenant ground forces under the command of Noga 'Putumee attacked the convoy using Wraiths, Banshees, and Ghosts. Jones was in the fourth Warthog, under command of Sergeant Corly when his vehicle was hit by a plasma mortar round from the Wraiths. The vehicle toppled end over end, and Corly was killed while Jones was thrown free and survived.[1] He then climbed to a hill and spotted two Elites on it, one being a Minor Domo Elite Ado 'Mortumee and the other being a Zealot, 'Putumee. For some unknown reason, he decided to kill the lower ranking Elite first.[2] He decapitated 'Mortumee with a shot but his second missed, allowing 'Putumee to survive. 'Putumee then ordered the Banshees to find Jones' position and take him out.[3] His fate after that was unknown, as the book did not mention him again. However, it is safe to assume that he died along with every one else when the Master Chief blew up the Pillar of Autumn's fusion drive core, effectively destroying Installation 04. As for 'Putumee, he was later killed in the raid on Alpha Base by a Scorpion Tank[4].
